Michelle M. Franchino, with Basket Savvy, in Valencia, CA, recently won top honors for her Creative Design Expertise at the Gift Basket Industry’s Convention of the Year!


Basket Connection Convention & Trade Show, which is sponsored by Rave Reviews Magazine, was held at the beautiful Hilton Hotel in downtown Atlanta earlier this month. The show is an annual industry event, attended by gift basket entrepreneurs and gourmet shops from around the world. Business owners from 34 states, including Hawaii - plus Canada, Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados and Finland competed for awards in six separate categories.

The competition was part of the Basket Connection’s continuing efforts to bring about a new standard of excellence in the industry, by encouraging the participants to develop their Design, Business and Marketing acumen.

The focus of this year’s convention was "Working Smarter, Not Harder". With an emphasis on connecting with your customers during tight economic times, attendees were able to choose eight seminar sessions from a list of 28 topics that would help them address their weaknesses and build on their strengths.

Our key-note speaker, Robert Duensing, with Best Regards in Kansas City, hit a home run with the audience in his address on finding opportunity in the face of adversity.


First Place Honors in the Design Competition were presented to Michelle M. Franchino, for her winning entry in the Theme Baskets Category, "What’s The Occasion?" With this highly coveted industry award, comes the opportunity to compete in the Prestigious Designer of the Year Competition at the 2009 Convention.
